Feb 19-20 EMC Online Rapid & Blitz Tournament

Event Description

This is an online Rapid & Blitz tournament to be played on chess.com in two sections.

Format:

Day 1: 5 Round Rapid Swiss, CFC Active Rated. Pairings will be done using CFC Active Ratings. CFC or FQE membership is required for Canadian players and FIDE or USCF ID is required for others.

Day 2: 7 Round Blitz Swiss, chess.com rated.

When: Rapid on Saturday, Feb 19, and Blitz on Sunday, Feb 20.

Where: Online on chess.com/live

Round Times: Saturday: Rd 1 - 10 AM; Rd 2 - 11:00 AM; Rd 3 - 12:00 PM; Rd 4 - 1:30 PM; Rd 5 - 2:30 PM; Sunday: Rd 1 - 1 PM and subsequent rounds immediately following the end of the previous round

Sections: OPEN and U1300 (Note: We may only have a section if we don't have enough registered participants for two sections. We may also have more sections based on registered participants)

Time Controls: Rapid: 15 mins plus 10-sec increments; Blitz: 3 mins plus 2-sec increments – All Sections

Byes: Rapid: Only two Byes allowed. 1/2 points for rounds 1 to 4. Zero-point by for round 5.

The byes MUST be requested in advance during registration. We cannot guarantee that byes will be accepted during the tournament.

Registration Fees

$15 All Sections pre-registration. $20 after Feb 14th. Registration closes at 9 AM on Saturday, Feb 19, 2022

FREE Entry for IM’s and GM’s (Please email info@elevatemychess.com to be added to the tournament)

TOURNAMENT PRIZES – 70% of total registration fees collected will be distributed as Cash Prizes. To be eligible for cash prizes, you must sign on to zoom during your games (Only required for the Rapid event).
