August 18-19 2021 CFC RATED ONLINE RAPID CHESS TOURNAMENT

Event Description

This is an online CFC Rapid-rated tournament to be played on chess.com in two sections. Pairings will be done using CFC Active Ratings. To be eligible for cash prizes, you must sign on to zoom during your games using the link that will be provided prior to the tournament:

When: Wednesday, Aug 18 - Thursday, Aug 19, 2021. First Round starts at 10:00 AM on Wednesday

Where: Online on chess.com/live

Format: 5 Round Swiss, CFC Active Rated. CFC or FQE membership is required for Canadian players and FIDE or USCF ID required for others.

Round Times: WEDNESDAY Rd 1 - 10 AM; Rd 2 - 2 PM; Rd 3 - 6 PM; THURSDAY Rd 4 - 1 PM; Rd 5 - 5 PM.

Sections: OPEN and U1300 (Note: We may only have a section if we don't have enough registered participants for two sections. We may also have more sections based on registered participants)

Time Controls: 15 mins plus 10-sec increments – All Sections

Byes: 1/2 points for rounds 1 to 4. Zero-point by for round 5.

The byes MUST be requested in advance during registration. We cannot guarantee that byes will be accepted during the tournament.

Registration Fees

$10 All Sections pre-registration. $15 after Sunday, Aug 15, 2021. Registration closes at 9 AM on Wednesday, Aug 18, 2021

FREE Entry for IM’s and GM’s

TOURNAMENT PRIZES – $130 total Prize Fund or 50% of total registration fees collected (whichever is higher) will be distributed as Cash Prizes.
